Why You'll Probably Never See Someone “Call Me Out”
Something I've noticed over the years:
You'll probably never see somebody come out with some crazy story about how I did them dirty, fucked them over, switched up on them, or played in their face.
And there's a pretty simple reason for that.
I move with respect.
I've given damn near everybody I've dealt with respect.
Can 80% of those same people honestly say they always gave me that same respect back?
Hell no. 😂
And that's exactly why I'm comfortable with how I move.
Moving Solid Gives You a Different Kind of Confidence
When you know you've consistently treated people right, you don't have to panic every time a relationship goes bad.
You know what happened.
They know what happened.
And most importantly?
You know who's really got the receipts.
That's a different type of peace.
I'm not sitting around wondering:
“Damn, what if they tell people what I did?”
Tell them.
Tell the whole story while you're at it. 😂
Because when you consistently move solid with people, you're not terrified of context.
Respect Doesn't Mean We Never Disagree
I think people confuse respect with never having conflict.
That's not what I'm talking about.
I've argued with people.
I've disagreed with people.
I've gotten pissed off.
I've had business relationships fall apart.
I've had friendships end.
I've had situations where both sides probably walked away thinking the other person was wrong.
That's life.
Respect doesn't mean we never argue.
Respect doesn't mean I agree with everything you say.
Respect doesn't mean I'm going to smile and nod while somebody plays in my face.
It simply means exactly what I said:
Respect.
I don't have to agree with you to treat you like a human being.
I don't have to continue doing business with you to handle the ending correctly.
I don't have to like how something turned out to avoid doing some snake shit behind your back.
Those are completely different things.
How I Move With People Protects Me
This is something I've learned is worth way more than people realize.
Your reputation isn't just what people say about you. It's also what they can't truthfully say about you.
That's why I'm comfortable being outspoken.
That's why I'm comfortable telling my side of situations.
That's why I'm comfortable standing on what I say.
Because I know how I move behind closed doors too.
I'm not presenting one version of myself publicly and becoming somebody completely different when nobody's watching.
And if somebody does have an issue with me?
Cool.
Tell your story.
But understand something:
I might have the screenshots too. 😂
Being Good to People Doesn't Guarantee They'll Be Good to You
This was probably the harder lesson.
Moving correctly doesn't magically make everybody around you move correctly.
You can give somebody respect and still get disrespected.
You can give somebody honesty and get bullshit back.
You can communicate directly and still deal with somebody who ducks conversations.
You can give somebody opportunities to make something right and watch them repeatedly choose not to.
That's why I don't confuse how I move with how somebody else chooses to move.
Their behavior belongs to them.
Mine belongs to me.
And I'm going to make sure mine is something I can stand behind.
That's Why I Keep the Receipts
Not because I'm walking around waiting to expose somebody.
That's exhausting.
But I learned a long time ago that people can remember situations very differently when relationships go bad. 😂
So yeah, I keep shit.
Messages.
Agreements.
Conversations.
Receipts.
Not because I plan on using them.
Hopefully I never have to.
But I'm also never going to let somebody rewrite history because they assumed I'd stay quiet.
Move Solid and Sleep Good
That's really my philosophy.
Treat people with respect.
Be upfront.
Handle business correctly.
Communicate.
Own your mistakes when you actually make them.
And when you disagree, disagree.
You don't have to become enemies just because something didn't work.
And if somebody chooses not to give you that same respect?
That's on them.
Because at the end of the day, I can only control how I move.
And that's probably the biggest reason you'll rarely see somebody legitimately “call me out” for some bullshit.
They might not like me.
They might disagree with me.
They might think I'm too outspoken, too aggressive, too whatever.
Cool.
But there's a major difference between:
“I don't like how Trey is.”
and
“Trey did me wrong.”
One is an opinion.
The other requires a story.
And if we're telling stories?
Let's make sure we tell the whole fucking thing. 😂
